If you have been keeping yourself up to date with all the recent tablet reveals at MWC 2011, you were probably as surprised as we were when we heard the news that Sony may be preparing to release a ‘PlayStation’ tablet.
We want to know your thoughts on this. Do you think it’s one idea too many for Sony, or do you think a PlayStation certified tablet will go on to become a new gaming alternative alongside the Sony NGP and Nintendo 3DS?
If you missed Engadget’s report earlier this week, their sources confirmed that Sony has a 9.4inch device in the works, and that it’s currently codenamed S1 behind closed doors. It’s meant to be PS certified just like the Xperia Play and other specs include a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, front and back cameras, PS1 game support, remote play and Sony Bravia features.
We’re also hearing that this will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and will be released around the September period for $599. All these details so early on, it does make you wonder if they’re real or not doesnt it?
As a gamer though, would you really consider picking this up as an alternative to the Sony NGP and Nintendo 3DS? Perhaps Sony are focusing on casual gaming with the S1, and that the added PlayStation features are just a nice extra, since we all know the PSP2 (NGP) is the real meat coming this year.
Where do you stand with this S1 PlayStation tablet. Good idea for gaming in your opinion or not?
