You may have read our article yesterday where we stated that Verizon Wireless would offer customers an unlimited data plan for the iPhone 4 for just $30 per month, at the time this seems much more appealing than AT&T’s current offerings (all of which are capped), however it looks as if some AT&T customers may well be eligible to unlimited data plan.
According to a recent article posted on BostonHerald there may be some good news for some AT&T customers, if you are an AT&T customer who now owns an iPhone 4 AT&T’s customer service will apparently let you switch back to an unlimited plan if you had an unlimited plan before the U.S. carrier stopped them in June 2010.
To our knowledge to get your unlimited data plan you must ring up customer services and threaten to leave them for Verizon for their unlimited data plan, to keep your custom AT&T will re-enable the unlimited plan. When asked about this unadvertised loophole an AT&T spokesman had this to say on the matter “We handle customers and their situations individually, and we’re not going to discuss specifics”.
To be honest with you I think that AT&T may do more in an attempt to keep their customers from switching to Verizon Wireless, a lot of customers probably joined AT&T after the carrier cancelled their unlimited plans just to get their hands on the iPhone 4, I am sure that these customers will undoubtedly be frustrated to hear that fellow AT&T customers are getting a better deal than they are.
