iPhone 5: New Suppliers Added for Summer Release Date

We have a minor update on the iPhone 5 to share with you now, as it has been reported that Apple has added to the list of component suppliers for their next generation handset, likely to be announced this Summer.

The news is according to this fresh report from Digitimes, as Apple has added suppliers such as Foxlink, Gold Circuit Electronics (GCE) and Epistar, along with usual favorites Foxconn, who will once again resume their duties as Apple’s main component supplier for their hardware refreshes.

Interestingly, Foxconn will also be required to build Apple’s new earphones for the still-unannounced fifth generation iPhone, while another company called Foxlink will supply the actual headphone jack for the new device.

Digitimes have cited their information from a Chinese publication called Economic Daily News, who have also stated that the iPhone 5 will arrive this Summer ‘at the earliest’ – does that mean that the phone will go on sale around the late June, July period?

All eyes will be on Apple’s annual WWDC event, which they’ll probably use to demo the iPad 2 as well. We recently told you that the iPad 2 was rumored to have a 1MP rear camera, which you may find disappointing – you can read the full story on that here.

What are your predictions for the iPhone 5? Do you think it will arrive this Summer or not?
