2011 Peugeot 508 Sedan: Hybrid electric diesel spec

The 2011 Peugeot 508 Sedan will see its official unveiling at the 2010 Paris Motor Show this October, but what can we expect from this hybrid electric vehicle with its diesel spec engine? The first thing that you need to know is its size, the 508 will sit in between the soon to be no more 407 and the 607.

The 508 is a striking car and has design features taken from the Peugeot SR1 concept car, although you would be forgiven for thinking that that it was a German vehicle. However, David Williams from the Telegraph has heard from the French automaker and reports that it will be “full of French chic”

The 508 sedan is said to be light with an emphasis on its aerodynamics, meaning that it should produce less emissions. The powerplant will be the new e-HDI stop and start system from Peugeot, which is said to increase fuel-economy by at least 15 percent. The vehicle should be released in the UK sometime in the spring of 2011.

Peugeot is also working on its diesel-electric HYbrid4 technology; this engine will produce 200hp and just of 99g/km of emissions, or zero if in electric mode.
