2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet: Details Ahead of Detroit

The Detroit Auto Show is not far away and there are some great cars already lined up, such as the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet. The German automaker has now released more details on the CLK convertible replacement ahead of the show.

The new Cabrio based on the latest coupe has more to other than its predecessor; this can clearly be seen in the choice of engines. These include the 3.5-liter V6 pushing out 286 horsepower, there is also the 5.5-liter V8, which produces a heart pumping 382 hp. Mercedes has gone for the cloth option instead of hard-top, this was mainly to keep weight down.

The best feature on the new convertible E-Class has to be the AirCap system; this comes with a 2.4-inch wind deflector. Wind is also deflected from the rear thanks to a draft-stop mounted behind the rear seats. Mercedes states that there will be less wind in the passenger compartment when travelling up to 100 mph.

For those who love to have the roof down but hate the feel of a draft blowing on your neck, then the Airscarf will be much appreciated, as warm air is gentle blown on your neck. The German automaker has also included head airbags to increase passenger’s safety.

The new 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet should launch in May, but if you cannot wait until then visit Autoblog for more details.
