2011 Mazda2 vs Ford Fiesta: Review, price, conclusion

Jeremy Korzeniewski from Autoblog has done the most obvious thing and pitted the 2011 Mazda2 against the Ford Fiesta. He then ran a poll asking which one of the two small hatchbacks would you choose? Even though Korzeniewski preferred the Mazda, it appears that his readers did not agree.

Autoblog has great knowledge of both vehicles as they have tested both. They understand that drivers look for different things, so if you would like a vehicle with automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission then the Fiesta is the one for you.

However, for those looking for something more standard, then the four-speed automatic Mazda2 is the choice for you. Well, we know who won that round. Korzeniewski points out that the Fiesta has the largest cargo area — making it a perfect choice for a mother who needs to go to the store to pick up the groceries.

The Mazda2 is only available as a hatchback; the Fiesta can be purchased as a hatchback or sedan — making the Ford the winner of that category as well.

The 2011 Mazda2 will cost $13,980 and for that you get a 100 horsepower engine. The 2011 Ford Fiesta costs $13,995 for the sedan and $15,795 for the hatchback; the engine pushes out 120 horsepower.
