Mass Effect 2: PS3 Vs Xbox 360 – PS3 Version Better?

By Alan Ng - Nov 30, 2010

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, as we have new information from developers Bioware, which seemingly confirm that the PS3 version will be ‘better’ than the Xbox 360 version of the game.

As reported from Eurogamer, Bioware’s Jess Huston is the producer of the upcoming ‘port’ of the game, and has been keen to reassure gamers that the PS3 version of the game won’t be a typical ‘run down’ version of Mass Effect 2.

When speaking to the Official PlayStation Magazine, he had this to say:

“Oftentimes when you go to the PS3 you see stuff like down-ressing and using a smaller than 720p resolution to try and get back some of the framerate. We haven’t done that. We really wanted to try to make it as good, if not better than the Xbox version.”

There you go, from the horse’s mouth itself. For those of you who don’t know, Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 will be out in January, a year after the Xbox 360 and PC versions were released. But PS3 owners will be getting every piece of DLC released, plus special ‘introductory content’ that has still yet to be fully revealed.

As a PS3 owner planning to get ME2 next year, what are your thoughts on the comments? If you have the Xbox 360 version, are you disappointed that PS3 users are getting the better version?

Well it's been 1 year, it's only normal to get better technology, and free DLC since we'll pay 59$ for the game even if we could pay like 20$ on PC or xbox. Good news, but I'll only believe it when I'll see the final result.
