HTC EVO Shift 4G: New Name for Sprint HTC EVO 2?

By Alan Ng - Nov 15, 2010

We have some interesting news to bring you now, especially if you currently own a HTC EVO 4G handset on Sprint. It might be quite far off from a release, but we have already heard hints about a possible successor to the handset.

According to this report from Engadget, it has been confirmed that HTC’s team of lawyers trademarked the name ‘HTC EVO Shift 4G’ during the last part of October.

The trademark was filed under ‘mobile phones, smartphones and cellular phones’ so it effectively rules out the possibility of this device being a Tablet or something similar.

First of all, what are your thoughts on the name itself? We have to say, it doesn’t that right feel about it at the moment, but like most other unusual names, it is sure to grow as time goes on.

Could the Shift 4G be the new name for the HTC EVO 2? Let us know your thoughts on this one, we’ll update you if we hear anything else.

iPhone 4 the best all these new phones specially evo always try to steal ideas smh

i need a new phone, i was looking at the evo, but heard the call quality is weak. also for such a beautifully large screen, a better resolution would make it worth it's glass.
is there agreement on those 2 considerations?
maybe fixed with the evo 2 (shift)?

  • I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.

I received confirmation from 2 Sprint sources, one from corporate reciting a memo thyvreceived that there will be an Evo W (not the shift). Should be released in 60-90 days. No factual knowledge on the specs but rumor of the 1ghz dual core, 1080p video recording and 10 mega pixel camera has spread. Only fact is that Qualcomm has indeed began pumping out dual core mobile processors.

I saw the phone yesterday, although the guys were not supposed to be showing it to people. It does have a slider keyboard, but unfortunately is way smaller than the EVO and even my Samsung Moment. Dark, navy blue-It has a 5 migapixel camera, and an amazing screen. i was watching Avatar and it looked like I was watching it on my flat screen at home-just 100x smaller. The platform looked like my mom's Hero with the 7 screens. I was going in to buy the Epic but they said the new Evo will be $100 cheaper which I can't pass up. Plus is seems that it is a lot less fragile than the Epic or EVO if that makes any sense. I didn't get to find out what all it could do because someone came in the store but it is coming out this Sunday here in Houston,Texa. Hope this helps

get a epic if you want a key board!! The shift is a down scale phone similar to the optimus. The evo 2 is coming in May. Trust.

its time for my upgrade i hope it drop by nxt week or the week afta dat

a keyboard would be nice, might make it usable if something happens to your screen.

  • I love my EVO. If HTC can top this off…I'm down. $400 was alot though…got me broke for the whole month haha but I recovered 😀 Great phone and everyone, including iPhone owners, are JEALOUS! My cousin joined Sprint just for the phone lol. The EVO2, if better, will be amazing to see. A real, tangible keyboard would have been nice. I love this big screen especially for games such as the genesis games, although, my fingers get in the way so it'd be nice for apps like this to have a real keyboard. An onscreen one isn't bad, but both is even better. Please not be a tablet. Maybe a tablet version, but not just a tablet. I want a phone I can carry with me.

    • Iphone4 lmao @ evo

Lol please iPhone 4 users ain't jealous at all with those wannabe iPhones or evo watever those wannabe iPhones are called

Im a proud owner of the EVO it will be interesting to see what EVO SHIFT has instore for us.

  • derald

Yea i can't wait either. I was wondering when rumors would start flying around. Now lets just wait for the specs!

  • Guillermo

I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EVO 4G!! I have one now and I just wish a newer, more improved model would come out. One with a better processor, more onboard ram, same 4.3 inch screen, some new sort of y shaped kickstand, better battery life, and STILL NO KEYBOARD! It needs to be JUST as sleek, if not thinner than the original.

    • Robert

      Amen to that!

there is…Verizon is coming out an analog to Sprint's Evo which includes all of the aforementioned.
