New Samsung Superphone 2011: Specs and Release Date ETA

By Alan Ng - Nov 12, 2010

We have only just finished telling you about fresh details on the Google Nexus ‘S’ by Samsung, but now we have incredible rumors about a brand new, unannounced flagship Samsung smartphone that is on the way early next year.

Engadget has managed to get the scoop, and an image they have obtained is allegedly straight from Samsung’s HQ and it shows a new Android handset with some powerhouse specs, leading us to call it the Samsung ‘superphone’.

If Engadget’s article is correct, this handset will be out in February 2011 and it will be equipped with Google Android 2.3 OS Gingerbread and a huge 4.5-inch “Super AMOLED 2” display screen, yes bigger than the 4.3-inch HTC HD7 before you ask.

Other specs include a 1.25GHz processor of some sort, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, support for 1080p playback and recording, 16GB of internal memory, Bluetooth 3.0 and more.

Wow – consider us impressed. Hopefully we’ll be able to bring you more details on the device, especially information regarding the new ‘sAMOLED 2’ technology which is listed. Head over to Engadget to see the image in question, and let us know your thoughts on it afterwards.

Oh I prefer to buy a new Galaxy s!! its a 2.3 gingerbread great with a 1.2 Ghz Processor..

  • Hope it's dual-core

I'd prefer 1GHz dual core rather than 1.2 Ghz single, but I'll buy if it's 1.25 GHz dual core

The trend seems to be larger phones, quite a turn from the earlier days when smaller phones was cool.

  • I’ve had my Torch for about 3 weeks and I’m still really glad I chose a nice compact phone with a physical qwerty keyboard
