Samsung Galaxy Tab: Android Gingerbread, Honeycomb – Release Updates

By Alan Ng - Nov 3, 2010

We have some good news for those of you who are planning to pick up a Samsung Galaxy Tab this month, as we are hearing reports that the device will definitely get future updates to both Android OS Gingerbread and Honeycomb.

That is according to this report from Phandroid, who have taken their information from an unnamed Samsung representative who has stated that the Galaxy Tab will receive both updates as soon as they come to market.

Unfortunately, the rep didn’t give an exact release period for when the updates will be available, but Phandroid also add that Android OS Gingerbread, now thought to be OS version 2.3 will be out before Christmas. As for the Honeycomb update, fresh details on it are due to come during the early part of 2011 – will it now be known as Android 3.0?

Hopefully Samsung get their act together and release Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy Tab as soon as possible, although it’s slightly worrying to think that the majority of Galaxy S owners are yet to receive the Android 2.2 Froyo update.
