Thanksgiving 2010: Travel Apps Help Out

When you ask some people about Thanksgiving, they automatically think of travel; this is what then makes me think about the movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”. No other movie symbolizes the travel chaos that a huge number of people have to take to reach a range of destination in the U.S.

However, for those of you who have watched the movie, you will know that planning your trip back home is now much easier thanks to the range of travel apps designed to help you out. Do remember one thing though, there are a number of things that you need to remember before you start booking.

Never before has there been a range of travel apps designed to get you the best deals, and advice on where you plan to stay - if you are not staying at home. One thing I would suggest – book now before it is too late; how would you feel if you had to pay $150 more for a flight because you left it another couple of weeks?

Some of the best travel apps has to be TripAdvisor, KAYAK, amongst others. Not only can you book the flights and accommodation, the latter will even ping you to let you know if a flight has dropped to the destination you was looking at. These are just two apps available, which is your travel app of choice for Thanksgiving 2010?

My favorite mobile app for travelling is FlightView (available for Droid, iPhone and Blackberry). If there is a delay or cancellation to my reservation, FlightView provides alternate flight information and access to airline phone numbers. I love the flight tracking capabilities and in-air flight details like time remaining, flight status, gate changes and delays. FlightView integrates with the calendar on my iPhone, and I can include notes as well as receive alerts. It’s simple to use, and has other great features like My Trips and the airport delay map. I use this app for all my traveling.
