Huawei Ideos S7 Tablet: Specs, Price and Release Date

By Jamie Pert - Oct 27, 2010

Back in June we gave you a glimpse at Huawei’s upcoming 7-inch tablet the Ideos S7, now we have a release date and price for Android-based iPad rival.

BestBuy are currently taking pre-orders for the Huawei Ideos S7, it costs $299.99 and will begin shipping on Novemember 7th, if you would like to pre-order yours check out this link.

The Ideos S7 feature a 7-inch touchscreen display, WiFi b/g/n, Android 2.1 Eclair, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, up to 8GB of storage (via microSD slot) and a 2 megapixel camera.

The price does seem pretty good considering, however I can’t help but think an update to Android 2.2 FroYo would greatly increase its appeal, what do you think?

I have one of these but it's called a T Touch Tab and is sold by Telstra here in Australia. Telstra have done a deal with Huawei and branded these as their phones to sell here in Australia and you can only buy them from a telstra shop or telstra dealer. Well what can I say about this tablet, It's amazing! it does everything I want and need from a tablet and is so handy. About the only thing they could do to improve it would be to address the battery life (which to be honest is ok but you will use it up quickly if your on it continually and constantly) but hay if your going to use it non stop then just plug it in to the power and if your out and about then just put it into low power mode. The other thing's that they could do to improve it is give it a super-sharp 8 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, a Xenon flash, auto and manual focus, sensitivity up to ISO 1600 and geo-tagging like on the LG Renoir KC910 mobile phone as well as a desk dock that plugs into your computer so when your working you can drop it on and recharge as well as drag and drop files (be it pictures or music or movies etc) straight to your tablet. And what about cases? and all the other accesories? when are they going to bring them out? All in all this is a great gadget and worth every penny
