New MacBook Air and iLife 11 Confirmation

By Peter Chubb - Oct 20, 2010

The Back to Mac event begins in just over four hours time, and some of us know what we expect Apple to announce, but we all know how unpredictable Apple can be. Most rumors suggest that a new MacBook Air and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) will be unveiled by Steve Jobs, but we have found confirmation as to what is coming.

Vlad Savov from Engadget has learned via Spider’s Web that a number of Apple discussion pages have now been set up, and the new MacBook Air is just one of them. The other new products to be announced will be GarageBand ’11, iMovie ’11, iPhoto ’11 all of which forms part of the new iLife ’11 suite.

We are not sure how much we can read into this, but it is the first time that they have made any such announcement of a product before one of Steve’s keynote.

There is so much that we can learn from these discussion pages, one is that the new MacBook Air – whatever size it will be – and the iLife ’11 suite could launch from today, but Mac OS X 10.7 will just be about what we can expect from the new software.

One thing I do know, Steve Jobs will mention how well sales of their devices are going, as well as what profits Apple has made in Q4. What do you expect from today’s Back to the Mac event?
