White iPhone 4: New Antenna Design Causes Delay?

By Peter Chubb - Oct 18, 2010

There have been a number of reasons as to why the White iPhone 4 has been delayed, issues with the quality of the white and not being able to match the colors up are just two excuses. However, have we stopped to consider that Apple has been working on a new antenna design?

Stuart Miles from Pocket-lint has learned that someone with good eyesight has spotted a difference with the black band placement on the antenna of the white version of the iPhone 4. See for yourself here.

Those bands look to have been moved up higher now; they look to be above the microSIM card tray. So is this now the new place or is it just a shadow, we are just going to have to wait and see? However, we are still uncertain as to how long we have to wait until the white version gets released.

I wonder if anyone managed to get a close look at the White iPhone 4 that Stephen Fry had in his pocket during a recent event? I have just taken my bumper off and had a look at where the position of where the new antenna bands would be – my hand still covers it.

Do you think this is a redesign or just bad lighting?
