Microsoft And Facebook Gang Up On Google

By Peter Chubb - Oct 14, 2010

If Google thought that they have a tough time now with Facebook – then they can think again. The reason for this is because Microsoft has just announced that their new Bing search engine will be offering a social twist. The two companies believe that they will be able to give Google something to worry about.

For those of you who have a Facebook account will be able to see Bing search results, which is based on results from their friends, such as places that they have been. A fine example of this is restaurant recommendations, movies etc.

The Houston Chronicle says that when a Facebook user types something in the Bing search bar, the results will show how many of their friends liked the item; links related to that search will also appear next to the results.

This could be a huge step for both Facebook and Microsoft, but more so for Bing, as the new search engine has not had the desired affect on Google. This is also a huge deal for Facebook, as they always have the fear that Google will finally have success in social networking.

Will Google be able to fight a battle on two fronts?
