Asus 8.9-inch Eee Pad: Rumored Specs Are Impressive

By Jamie Pert - Oct 6, 2010

Today we have yet another rumored tablet device for you to tell you about, this time it is the Asus Eee Pad, which will apparently run Windows and feature an 8.9-inch display.

The rumored specs are pretty impressive, however unconfirmed, we are led to believe that the 8.9-inch display will support a resolution of 1024 x 600, also we are informed that it will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and have Tegra graphics along with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

Other details are still unknown, apparently it will run a version of Microsoft Windows and will feature Microsoft Office, which could perhaps be its downfall.

In my opinion a true mobile OS would have been a better choice, this is because they tend to be more intuitive and less resource hungry, that said if the Windows OS is cut-down enough and optimized for the hardware it could perhaps be a success.

As you would expect we have no idea of a release date or price, or whether this device will ever get out of its concept stages, therefore we will have to keep you posted.

Do you think it would be better if the Asus Eee Pad ran a truly mobile OS?

It's possible to turn it into an android device. Android runs almost anything, I have android-x86 running on my unused 5 year -old vaio laptop, If only it(my vaio) had touch screen i can install it in front of my car dashboard.
