Google Doodle: History of ‘The Flintstones’

By Peter Chubb - Sep 30, 2010

You know when you have truly made an impact on the world when you appear as a Google Doodle on the search engine’s homepage, just as The Flintstones has today. Today is the 50th anniversary of this Hanna-Barbera Productions cartoon, and what a fifty years it has been.

The show ran from 1960 to 1966, so just seems amazing that there is still such a huge fan base; such as the Facebook fan page, which you can read more about over at OSM.

There were reports that The Honeymooners was used as a basis of the show, but there is no proof of this. However, we cannot deny how popular this cartoon was and still is. There have been a few movies based on this cartoon, but they did not exactly light up the box office – not even with the help of Halle Berry.

The main characters of the show were: Fred Flintstone, Wilma, Pebbles, Barney Rubble, Betty and Bamm Bamm. There were others but these were the main six. For more details on the history of The Flintstones visit Wikipedia If you like The Flintstones, then why not try these four online games.
