Those of you who are waiting to get hold of Nokia’s new N8 smartphone, might have to wait until October before you will able to have the device. Before it was thought that the device would start shipping in late September in the US and UK.
Nokia have recently said they still had some work to do on the N8 and have decided to delay shipments for a few weeks. They sent an email to the Wall Street Journal and stated “To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends.”
Now after getting loads of confused queries Nokia have posted on the company blog to try and make things clearer. “There have been [some stories] about the N8 availability which we feel need clarification.” “As we have previously said, we still expect to start the shipments by the end of the third quarter. As with every global launch, when the device reaches the hand of the customer will vary by market and operator.”
They went on to say that they are aiming for preorder customers to start receiving the N8 by the end of September, but due to the high demand they have advised people to expect delivery in October.
It remains to be seen if the new device can compete with the iPhone or devices running the Google Android OS, with many saying the Symbian OS is too sluggish. Have you preordered the Nokia N8?
