SHAtter Exploit Finder Quits: GreenPois0n Jailbreak iOS 4.1 Not Affected

It has recently been revealed that the pod2g (the hacker who created the SHAtter bootrom exploit for iPhone) is no longer affiliated with the chronic boot team, he is now working independently.

At first people were worried that this may affect the release of the GreenPois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1, however it seems as if the greenpois0n jailbreak development shouldn’t be affected.

If you check out pod2g’s Twitter feed you can see a few tweets explaining the situation, firstly he said “From now on, I’m not affiliated with chronic dev team anymore. I’m now working independently”, he then added “This is not a big deal for final users at all, as I gave details of my SHAtter exploit to both chronic and iphone dev teams !”.

It is unclear as to what pod2g will concentrate on now, however he did publish this tweet “To clarify: I’m an exploit maker, not a jailbreak tool developper. SHAtter is my 3rd bootrom exploit (24Kpwn was a team effort tho).”

It will be interesting to see exactly what pod2g’s future plans are, I am following him on Twitter now so I will do my best to keep you updated.

Will the chronic dev team miss pod2g?
