iOS 4.2 Downgrade: iPhone 4, 3GS to 4.1, 4.0.1 firmware for Jailbreak

If you own an Apple device which is running iOS 4.2 or 4.1 you may have noticed that you are not able to jailbreak it yet, therefore you may want to downgrade to a previous iOS version such as 4.0.1 so that you can, if so this is the post for you.

If you would like to downgrade your Apple device’s iOS version from iOS 4.2 or 4.1 you should check out this article for full details, however make sure that you take the necessary precautions beforehand, such as saving the ECIDs with SHSH to Cydia Server.

The instructions are for both Mac and Windows users, and will let you roll back from iOS 4.2 to 4.1, 4.0.1 or iOS 4.0.2.

I have read through the instructions and I must say that they are for quite technically minded people, if you are running iOS 4.1 perhaps you should just wait for the GreenPoison jailbreak.

UPDATE – The tips on Gadgets DNA will only help those that have saved the ECIDs with SHSH to Cydia Server already, and done that for iOS 4.1, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2, sorry for any confusion caused.
