Egg Recall: Tips to reduce Salmonella risk

Earlier today we informed you that the CDC issued an egg recall over fears of a Salmonella outbreak. We can understand that many of you will now be worried, but there are still things that you can do to reduce the risk of Salmonella poisoning.

Salmonella normally appears when an egg is undercooked, allowing the bacterium to grow and make you ill. The two rules are to always keep eggs in a refrigerator and always cook them properly before consuming – maybe Wright County Eggs did not store them correctly?

Never take an egg out of the refrigerator unless you plan to cook it immediately. If you ever see a dirty egg in the carton, always throw them away, once you have come into contact with a raw egg, make certain to wash the utensils, work surfaces and your hands after.

Whenever you eat in a restaurant, never choose something that has raw unpasteurized eggs in it. If you visit the CDC website they have an abundance of information for you regarding Salmonella, and how to stay safe.
