Motorola Droid X / Droid 2: 1GHz Snapdragon Processors Rumored

By Jamie Pert - Jun 22, 2010

In a few days time the iPhone 4 will be available to consumers around the world, therefore it will be quite interesting to see what rival smartphone manufacturers have up their sleeves to battle with Apple.

Well a recent tweet from DroidLanding may well give away one major selling point for the Motorola Droid 2 / Droid X, their tweet said “REPORT: Droid X designate #10 has escaped secure facility. Is armed with 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and is dangerously smart”.

The DroidLanding Twitter account is an account which has been set up to release clues regarding the Motorola Droid successor, if you follow their Twitter page you can keep up-to-date with all of the latest clues, their latest tweet reads “ATTN: Droid designate #5 escaped secure location 6 hours and counting. Witnesses noticed it heading in a southern direction”.

To be honest I don’t think the news of a 1GHz Snapdragon processor is huge, especially as the Nexus One which was releaved in January 2010 featured the same chip, that said it is a vast improvement when compared to the original Droid’s 600 MHz Arm Cortex A8 processor which was underclocked to 550 MHz.

Do you think the Motorola Droid X / Droid 2 will be a viable competitor to the iPhone 4?

Heck no it wont be competition. The MOto Droid was supposed to be a big competitor when it came out, against the iPhone and we see how that went. Verizon has a lot of work to do and as with the past droids, if this one has half the issues the others do, it will stay in the store and not in my pocket.
