Motorola 2GHz Android Phone: iPhone 4 out-of-date

By Peter Chubb - Jun 12, 2010

A few years back Motorola were losing ground to some of the newer cell phone makers, but since the launch of the Droid it has been having a bit of a renaissance. The company is now working on a second version of this phone and there is even talk that they will launch a new Android smartphone that will pack a 2GHz processor by the end of the year.

If this is the case then it seems that the Apple iPhone 4 could be out-of-date within 6 months. This is great news for Android fans but not those who have been waiting for the fastest iPhone yet. We have to wonder if Apple will be able to keep up with this fast moving market by launching just one iPhone a year?

JR Raphael from PC World said that Motorola is starting to turn up the heat on the likes of HTC, who is seen as their main competitor in the Android smartphone market. The latest handset to run on Android is the HTC EVO 4G, but only runs on a 1GHz processor – as does the iPhone 4.

Motorola has some work to do first, we all know that the battery life on the EVO is shocking, so Moto will have to do something special so that powerful processor does not drain its power too quick.
