Android 2.2 Froyo: Quickboot – One Second Boot On Video

How good do you think Android is at the moment? Android users will probably say pretty darn good, but what would you feel if your Android device could boot up in a second? We have a video, which hints of this very possibility in the future.

As reported from Phandroid, Ubiquitous has developed a unique boot solution which they are calling ‘Quickboot’. You may be thinking to yourself, how is this possible? – but the guys over at Ubiquitous explain how they have done it.

The one second Android boot is achieved by restoring a running image of Android by gradually restoring parts of the device’s memory in sequential order. Sounds like a great idea, but what impact will this have on battery life?

Basically, this is a standby mode that you would find on your PC or Sony PSP for example. Check out the video below to see it yourself. Could this be coming to Android 2.2 Froyo handsets in the future, or do you see a problem with this method?
