We knew that Steve Jobs would announce the new iPhone today and the release date for its new OS. We can tell you that the fourth-generation Apple smartphone will be called the iPhone 4 and its OS will be called iOS 4, with a release date of June 21.
Jobs explained that there are 1500 new features on the rebranded mobile operating system, which was once called iPhone OS 4.0. The main feature has to be true multitasking, something that all iPhone users are looking forward too.
iOS 4 will be made available for the iPhone 3G and 3GS and iPod Touch on June 21st – the 2G is excluded from this latest software update. We also have to inform you that some of these new features will not work on the 3G models – such as multitasking.
Nilay Patel from Engadget has pointed out that Cisco currently own the trademark for iOS, seems strange as they also do for the iPhone. We are certain that they called ahead and got permission.
