Even though the iPhone 4G has not yet been officially revealed there is already talk regarding the iPhone 4G’s successor, the iPhone 5G, obviously details regarding this smartphone are completely unknown, despite this NetworkWorld are already predicting this handset’s specifications.
If these predictions are close to the truth the iPhone 5G will be extremely impressive, faster than any smartphone we have ever seen before.
They believe that the iPhone 5G will feature a Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon processor, NetworkWorld believe that this processor will have two 1.5GHz cores, perhaps faster.
This seems pretty possible as it is expected that Qualcomm will release a similar processor before the end of the year. Apparently two chips are currently underdevelopment, one is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X50A, this will have a single 1.3GHz core, and a 45nm architecture, which means it should run cooler and more efficient then current chips.
The other chip under-development is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X72, this is a dual-core chip sporting two 1.5GHz cores, this powerful chip should give smartphones 1080p HD video capabilities (recording and playback).
Apple have a tendency to underclock their iPhone’s processor clock speed, however a dual-core chip with 2 x 1.5Ghz underclocked by 10-20% will still be very impressive.
