Verizon iPhone 4G: New Release Date Update – Bad News

By Alan Ng - Jun 4, 2010

We have an update on the highly anticipated, but still unannounced Verizon iPhone to share with you now, as Verizon spokesman John Johnson has issued a statement regarding Apple’s handset – it is not particularly good reading.

As reported from MacRumors, Johnson was speaking in a recent interview with when he revealed the news. When directly asked about the iPhone, and whether it would be landing on Verizon Wireless this year, he had this to say:

”No one ever asks that question. (Smiles) So, no plans to carry the iPhone in the immediate future, but you’ve gotta look at the incredible excitement around the Android devices…”

So for those of you who are still clinging on to the hope that Apple will announce Verizon as the next carrier for their iPhone 4G handset at WWDC 2010 – it doesn’t look likely now.

Still though, it doesn’t rule anything out for the future. Watch the interview with Johnson below to hear his comments for yourself.

I agree, android sucks and so does Verizon for not securing a good handset like the iphone. That is OK, 3rd qtr ATT gets my business.

but also, if verizon doesnt come out with the iphone alot of verizon customers will move to at&t and verizon will lose customers.

Verizon won't give word on the iphone release date because everyone in the next few months who might buy an android or other phone from verizon would just hold off until then. So expect it to make a silent drop in the third quarter…
Its just too bad verizon will never be able to talk/surf…. nice for skype and such applications. But having coverage where I need it is a major bonus, so for me verizon is a great choice.
