HTC EVO 4G: Sprint WiMAX Coverage Rollout Update

By Alan Ng - Jun 2, 2010

We have yet more good news for those of you planning to pick up the HTC EVO 4G handset from Sprint on Friday, as the carrier and Clearwire have just announced a few more major cities that will be added to the 4G WiMAX coverage areas.

As reported from BGR, consumers in Washington D.C will be delighted to hear that the captial will be fully equipped to support Sprint’s 4G speeds just in time for the 4th June release date.

Furthermore, Kansas City has also been included on the rollout list, while Baltimore will also be receiving a network upgrade soon according to Sprint.

It is a sigh of relief for those of you in D.C who were thinking that the HTC EVO 4G wouldn’t be 4G-capable by the time the handset was available – better late than never Sprint.

Let us know your thoughts on the new rollouts. More details through the link.

BGR misread the press release. The presser says that Clearwire is now offering 4G service in DC. I checked again today and Sprint still doesn't have 4G in DC although they have a controlling interest in Clearwire. I suspect it's a capacity issue.
