After Facebook publicly shunted Android by refusing to develop for the platform due to security issues arising in Google’s Friend Connect, it seems that Facebook have had a change of heart and have decided to release a Software Development Kit which will allow devs to integrate Facebook into their own applications. Maybe the recent privacy issues update has something to do with it?
The SDK will support such features as strong authentication using OAuth 2.0, the ability to make requests to the new Graph API and also enabling you to Publish stories back to Facebook using Feed forms.
Why the sudden turnaround? With Android’s rapidly rising popularity Facebook obviously feels that it is the way forward. And on top of this, the SDK for Android is supposedly superior to the SDK that is currently available to the iPhone. I assume a revamped SDK will be introduced to the iPhone market very soon.
If you are a developer, how are you planning on using the new Facebook SDK?
