Motorola Shadow and Droid 2: Verizon Release Dates in July?

By Alan Ng - May 10, 2013

If you needed further proof that Motorola are planning to drop a collection of handsets on Verizon this Summer, then the following details may help to persuade you. Some new information from a WSJ report has clarified that two smartphones are coming to Verizon soon.

We say ‘soon’, but this Engadget report states that both phones will be landing in July on Verizon Wireless. The two phones were not named in WSJ’s report, but due to recent Motorola leaks we can probably identify which handsets they will be.

The first will probably be the Motorola Shadow, or Motorola Droid Extreme if the handset is renamed as stated in our previous article here.

The next is likely to be the Motorola Droid 2, which we understand is a completely different handset to the Motorola Shadow. However, all the information has been about the Shadow lately, so we don’t really know too much about the Droid 2 at the moment.

Let us know your thoughts on this. Are you interested in picking up a new Motorola Droid handset this Summer or do you have your eyes on another handset?

If the Motorola Droid 2 releases in July, and they have in fact given it a better keypad and operating system, then I will go get it the day it comes out!

  • Love the part when the phone was found on a company gym. Could be great if they will explain more about its procs.

If this is correct (4.3 screen size) then this phone could have the largest screen for all android phones (even larger than Xperia X10)
