2011 Audi A8 with In-car wireless hotspot

We know that we spend a huge amount of time in our vehicles, which is why the 2011 Audi A8 will come complete with In-car wireless hotspot – taking advantage of the free wireless services offered up by different companies and establishment up and down the country.

Audi have placed its antenna on the roof, allowing for great connection to WLAN hotspots. This makes it possible for passengers to connect to the net via their laptop, netbook, smartphone or even their new Apple iPad. According to the German automaker its network is cable of speeds up to 7.2 Mbit/sec.

Steven J. Ewing from Autoblog says that even though other automakers have a similar system, Audi states that they are the first to offer it as a factory-installed unit. This is just one of a long list of gadgets installed in the Audi A8, such as MMI control interface – something that we mentioned at the beginning of the year.

Both Ford and GM have been launching a range of new technologies in an effort to make their vehicles more appealing to those who love their gadgets – this is evident with remote access via iPhone and Blackberry apps. It seems that even the most dignified car such as the Audi A8, needs to keep up with the fast pace of technology for the young generation.
