Sony PSP 2: Release Date Announcement at E3 2010 – Rumor

By Alan Ng - May 13, 2010

We have not heard any news regarding the PSP 2 for a long time now, but that has all changed. We have a huge rumor to share with you now, as it has been reported that Sony is already hard at work on the next PSP console.

Better yet, Sony are planning to reveal more details on the PSP 2 at their press conference at E3 2010 – according to this report from VG247.

They have taken their information from MCV, who states that an unnamed publisher has told an online magazine that they are now waiting for Sony to announce a ‘new platform’ before they can announce their future PSP plans.

What do you make of this? It is fair to say that the PSP Go handheld didn’t do as well as Sony would have hoped, so obviously they are looking to get their PSP console back into the limelight with the PSP 2.

What perfect way to do this, by announcing it to the world at E3. Let’s hope it is not leaked right before E3 like last year!

Are you ready for the PSP 2? We definitely are.

  • I'm definitely stoked for a new PSP. I just hope it is priced right. It needs to be priced about $200 at launch. If it doesn't get priced right at launch, it will not do well. There is a lot of competition now, namely the DS as well as the iPhone/iPod Touch. That being said, I do hope we see hardware that can emulate PS2 games, like the PSP1 can play PS1 games from the PSN Store. I hope Sony releases PS2 emulation for the PS3 soon so we can buy PS2 games from the PSN Store to play on the PS3 as well as the PSP 2. That would make people go out and buy one for sure!– I know I'd be hard-pressed not to.
