MyTouch 3G Slide: New T-Mobile Release Date – Rumor

We have some disappointing news to bring to those you expecting the MyTouch 3G Slide to release on May17th, as it seems that date has now been put back until early June.

According to this report from Phandroid, the guys over at TmoNews have said the new release date for the handset is June 2nd.

It is worth bearing in mind that no official confirmation has been made by T-Mobile yet, so things could still change. We do know the handset is coming soon though, after weeks of small leaks and rumors.

What are your thoughts on the phone? Is this one handset you are after, or do you have your eye on something more ‘attractive’? We’ll update you when we hear more details on the MyTouch 3G Slide.

This is one of the phones I've been excited about. I've been on Verizon for the last 6 or so years and for at least a year I've been eligible for an upgrade. Unfortunately, I hate every phone that they have on the market. I currently have the LG Voyager and wanted a similar phone but instead of it having minimal abilities, I wanted a smart phone.

One of the requirements I have for a new phone is a full physical/tactile keyboard. I like having the touch screen but I text by touch and can't do that on a virtual keyboard nor am I able to do it on Verizon's current line of phones. The Droid is the phone I really wanted but I can't stand the keyboard. I've heard good things about the HTC Pro Touch 2 but I have no need for a phone that runs Windows. Basically I've been searching for months for an Android phone with a nice keyboard (keys separated). I have a friend who recommended T-Mobile and the Motorola CLIQ but while looking for information that phone I found info on the MyTouch 3G Slide. The Motorola Backflip was a strong contender (AT&T) until I found out it was only running Android 1.6 (might have been 1.5). It's pretty much come down to me wanting the Droid with a better keyboard and from what I've seen, the Slide seems to be exactly that.

As soon as this phone comes out I'm jumping Verizon for T-Mobile and that's unfortunate. I've been pretty loyal to Verizon, but they have been unable to meet my needs with their new products. If the Slide is as great as it sounds, I will most likely be a T-Mobile customer for years to come. I just hope that they release it sooner than later and they officially comment on it because my Voyager is on its last leg and if they wait too long I might be forced to get a phone I'm less interested in.
