Nokia Symbian^3: Release date delayed untill Q3 2010

By Alan Ng - Apr 22, 2010

We have some disappointing news for Nokia fans now, as the handset maker has confirmed the delay of their upcoming Symbian^3 platform, which was on course to release in the 2nd quarter of this year.

As reported from Reuters, Symbian^3 will now be available in Q3 instead. The delay is down to quality as Nokia wants to deliver the best available product before releasing to the public. However, the company has now cut the outlook for its operating profit margin this year to 11-13 percent – it was originally at 12-14 percent.

The delay of Symbian^3 has already reached the analysts and they predict further worries ahead for Nokia if they do not release it to the market soon.

Neil Mawston, an analyst from Strategy Analytics had this to say on the matter: “Psychologically it is a blow as well as iPhone, Blackberry ad Android are surging ahead with software updates. Symbian cannot afford any delays.”

What are your thoughts on the delay? Were you looking forward to seeing some of the features seen in the video below?
