Call of Duty 2011: Sledgehammer game will be ‘innovative’

By Alan Ng - Apr 19, 2010

We have some more details on that somewhat ‘mysterious’ Call of Duty title by Sledgehammer Games now, as Activision has revealed that the new title will be an ‘innovative’ addition to the existing franchise.

As reported from VG247, Activision COO Thomas Tippi was speaking in a recent interview with the LA Times when he revealed the news.

He reminded us that Treyarch will be developing a Call of Duty (COD 7) game due to release this fall, while Infinity Ward remain a key part of their plans – despite the mass walkout, and claims that they are ‘finished’.

But when speaking about the Sledgehammer title, he had this to say: ”We haven’t yet announced the content of their game, but it’s going to be an innovative take that will further broaden the audience for Call of Duty.”

‘Innovative’ is the key word of course here, what are your thoughts on this? Do you have any immediate ideas on what they are thinking? Or maybe you have suggestions on what title would be ‘innovative’ for the company. Call of Duty – To Infinity and Beyond? You can do better than my example surely..

A space COD would be a failure. Why go up against the well established Halo?

Well First of all, When you shoot somebody in halo, they have a magical shield that keeps them from dieing… But maybe COD will be a better futuristic Warfare game. Call of Duty games so far have been Past and Present warfare games. They have been doing very good so far, well except for some bugs and what not. But I think its time that they try to make a Futuristic or Space game. I'm sure they will do a good job.

The "innovative" CoD is going to be a FPS and is possibly going to be set in a space/futuristic setting because Activision took ownership for titles such as Call of Duty: Future Warfare and Call of Duty: Space Warfare and coined the term "Space Marine" so it could be in space.

Apparently the're bringing it into the more action/adventure genre. Maybe like a cross between COD and drake's uncharted.
