Apple iPad: Camera Connector Kit now Shipping

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the official camera connector kit for the Apple iPad now, as the company has today confirmed that pre-orders for the accessory are now shipping.

As reported from Apple Insider, customers who pre-ordered the item with their iPad orders, are now getting notifications from Apple that you should receive the connector kit within days.

The package contains both a Dock Connector-to-USB adapter along with a Dock Connector-based SD Card reader. It costs $29 and will enable you to connect your devices up to the iPad to transfer pictures and other media.

Have you ordered the kit from Apple? More importantly – did you get the notification from Apple yet? Do you think the kit is value for money or not?

Yes, ordered camera connection kit when I ordered my 3G iPad. Status now shows "prepared for shipping." No email yet although did get email telling me my iPad will ship by end of April. Is it a value? Well, yes it is a good value. However, this is clearly a feature that should have been built into the iPad. Who wants to carry around a small, easy to lose adapter? I would gladly have paid twice the amount to have the feature built into my iPad.
