It would seem that even the President of the United States of America can’t always have what he wants. According to a report from AutoBlog, Barack Obama intended his new mode of transport to be driven by a hybrid power plant.

However the Secret Service put the brakes on the idea stating that a Eco-efficient drive train would not have the necessary power that would be required in an emergency situation. Considering that the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid pumps out enough power from its V8 to have a 7,700-pound towing capacity, it makes you wonder if there is another reason for denying the use of such an engine.

Although it is not know what the Presidential car has under the bonnet, be sure that it will be V8 with enough torque haul the massive armored car around, and rumor has it that it is diesel. Obama’s fondness for a hybrid was discovered during a speech about the purchase of 5,000 hybrid vehicle’s for use by the federal government.
