Google Earth Street View 3D buildings update

By Peter Chubb - Mar 13, 2010

Whenever Google Earth Street View releases a new city with 3 D buildings, they only offer two at a time – they recently went all out and offered us five new cities. These five new cities include, Barcelona, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Mulhouse. See more information on this in the video below.

The quality of these 3D buildings are some of the best we have seen in a while – Google Earth Blog singled out the building in Mulhouse as a fine example. They say that the imagery used on the building is truly amazing.

The buildings are all clickable, so are not just models like Google Earth Blog first thought. We are not too sure about the StreetView imagery used, it could be old or new – it is too hard to tell. Whatever way you look at it – Google have done a great job; let us hope that more follow soon.

There has been a lot of controversy over Google Earth’s Street View just lately, the latest is that is is seen a a service for burglars – read more on that in our recent article.
