Apple iPhone: Demand is sky high – best time for iPhone 4G?

By Alan Ng - Mar 11, 2010

It has been reported that demand for the Apple iPhone is as high as ever, after new figures have shown a dramatic increase in shipments compared to last year. This could be crucial for the company as we head towards a very interesting / exciting summer.

According to this article from Apple Insider, worldwide smartphone shipments were up during last quarter with a confirmed 37.2 percent in growth, with the iPhone alone securing a 98% increase in shipments.

If you think that the smartphone market in the previous four quarters only resulted in a 5.6% growth (according to AI figures), compared to the increase we have just seen, it looks as if consumers are slowly getting over the recession and smartphone numbers are once again picking up.

Analysts over at Apple Insider think that the smartphone market has turned into a ‘brutal battle’ between Microsoft and Google, but I say the ball is still firmly in Apple’s court – as everyone expects them to deliver an iPhone 4g this summer.
