There has been a lot of news surrounding Toyota’s Prius, you may well have read our recent post about how Toyota could have to swallow more than 3 billion dollars in lawsuits, or seen the video on how to stop a runaway Prius.

However it would seem that a New York driver did not see this video when he had to convince the police that his Toyota Prius had accelerated on its own, down a driveway, finally coming to rest in a stone wall across the road.

According to AP, more than 8 million vehicles have been recalled due to the highlighted accelerator pedal problem caused by trapping under floor mats or becoming sticky.

In this latest incident the vehicle was believed to be on the recall list but there was no immediate proof that a sticky accelerator was to blame, and although the airbags were deployed the driver escaped unharmed.
