Hand Sanitizer Warning Issued By FDA

In an era when one of the things that we worry about most is germs, it does not fill us with confidence when a hand sanitizer product has a warning issue by the FDA because of a dangerous bacteria. The reason why we use these hand cleaners, to destroy the bacteria in the first place.

Sales of “Bee-Shield Hand Sanitizer” with aloe vera and “MD Quality Hand Sanitizer” have been halted as they contained high levels of the Burkholderia cepacia bacteria. The Puerto Rico Beverage Inc. of Maunabo was just one company who rushed into the popular hand sanitizer market following the recent scares of Swine Flu.

Safety officials who visited the plant had found a number of problems with the manufacturing practices, the FDA are still trying to locate the whereabouts of company executives. The plant used to manufacturer juice, and it seems that the same containers were used to make the hand sanitizers, which is a serious problem.
