FFXIII: PS3 vs Xbox 360 – ‘There is only one choice’ – Digital Foundry

By Alan Ng - Mar 5, 2010

Those tech gurus at Digital Foundry have just completed their final analysis of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Final Fantasy. Its not good reading for 360 fans, as DF have stated that ‘there is only one choice’ when it comes to deciding which version to buy.

Check out the full analysis here. You’ll find detailed info on the graphics used within each game, as they back up their claims with side by side shots in high resolution, as well as providing us with some great comparison videos too.

Heres when it hits the fan for Xbox 360 owners: “The rumours are true. Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360 isn’t anywhere near as impressive as it is on PlayStation 3. The real kicker is that it’s a lot worse than it should have been.”

At the end of the day, unaware fans will realise once reading through endless pages of FF13 talk, that the game was developed for the PS3 first, then moved onto the Xbox 360 afterwards. The result is what you read in Digital Foundry’s full analysis.

Hardly surprising. The 360 is 2005 tech, and pretty much done for…

  • No real surprise -Final Fantasy is a very large 'AAA' game. I'm guessing it would be hard to port. Who'd choose disc swapping and lower performance when you can have a better version ??
