Google Acquire Picnik: Bringing Photo Editing to the Cloud

By Jamie Pert - Mar 2, 2010

When Google launch their Chrome OS later this year (hopefully) they will attempt to bring cloud-computing to millions of users world-wide, therefore the recent acquisition of Picnik is no surprise.

Picnik’s online photo editing service is powered by Flash, it can import photos directly from social-networking services such as Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket and Picasa, alternatively you can upload images directly from your computer.

There are both free and premium photo editing tools available, if you are a fan of their service you can pay monthly, 6 monthly or annually.

Apparently Google will pretty much keep Picnik running exactly the same, however in the future they will concentrate on new features.
