Nokia 5230: Release on T-Mobile US in March

By Alan Ng - Feb 9, 2010

Do you remember hearing about the compact Nokia 5230 all the way back in 2009? It is a Series 60 smartphone that was available last year in Europe, but now we have confirmation that T-Mobile will be bringing the affordable handset to the States next month.

As reported from BGR, the Nokia 5230 will be re-labelled as the ‘Nuron’ in preparation for its US release on T-Mobile on March 17th.

The 3G-enabled phone is fully touch supported and comes with a 3.2-inch display screen with virtual keyboard. It will have access to social features such as Twitter and Facebook, while it will also have full compatibility with the Nokia Ovi Store – which will let you download whichever apps you may need.

No word on pricing yet, but we’ll keep you informed closer to release. Will you be picking up the Nokia 5230?

After a careful review of the 5230 specs, I’m planning to pick up the Nuron once it arrives. I’ve been using the Nokia 6120c for a couple of years now, and am ready to upgrade. The fact that Ovi Maps free turn-by-turn navigation works on this model is a big factor for me. Good job, T-Mobile!
