New iPhone OS 4.0 and Apple’s Press Conference: What we know so far

With just a few hours to go before Apple’s press conference starts, we are getting a clearer picture of what to expect from Steve Jobs. Verizon getting an iPhone 4G within weeks is very unlikely but a new iPhone OS 4.0 is definitely on the cards.

What we know so far is that Apple will almost certainly release an Apple Tablet – also known as the iTablet or iSlate – but this will not be the only big news from Apple at their live event today. Even if a new iPhone firmware is released, there are many questions unanswered.

Tech Radar has posted a nice article looking at “5 things to know about iPhone OS 4.0” and also the Apple Tablet. They point out right away that the event will be all about the Apple tablet, and that multi-tasking will play a big role in new iPhone features in 2010 and maybe even the new iTablet.

If a new Tablet is released, Tech Radar point out that it will not be anytime soon and we should expect a refreshed home screen on the iPhone and an iPhone-type-interface on the new Tablet PC that includes multi-touch gestures.

Have a read of the article on Tech Radar, and let us know your thoughts on their expectations. What do you expect from Apple’s press conference today?
