13-inch iPad weight and experience concerns

There’s been a great focus on a larger iPhone, and while it’s hard to see a 4-inch plus display later this year, it’s still possible, but highly unlikely. There is said to be a development on this very subject, which we’ll get to a little later. For now we’d like to discuss the possibility of a 13-inch iPad.

If we are to believe a recent WSJ report, then Apple, along with its suppliers may have been testing out a larger iPad, and is rumored to have a 12.9-inch display. This is not the first time we have discussed rumors of a larger iPad, but it’s the first time that WSJ has reported on a device in testing, and they do seem to have a rather good track record, although it’s still worth being a little cautious.

We’re not surprised that Apple would consider an iPad with a larger display because of increased competition and the fact that consumers have been asking for it. However, there are concerns with the 13-inch iPad weight because it may not offer a comfortable experience.

Having said that, we’re sure that Apple would do all they could to keep the weight down, but it would be hard for them to go much thinner, although this is not much of an issue considering it’s metal design when compared to some plastic Android tablets.

This could be a new iPad Pro device, as it could come with a hybrid iOS and Mac OS X operating system, and better connectivity, such as thunderbolt, USB and an SD card reader, although we highly doubt it?

A 4.7-inch and a 5.7-inch iPhone are also said to be in testing, and this is where we find the source of the information a little sketchy, as we cannot see these anywhere near ready to be released. However, we already know that Apple is not prepared to rush such things and will make certain that they have everything in place before they release a larger iPad and iPhone, and so these could really be early tests ready for Apple’s big fight in 2014 against their rivals?
