For those that are unfamiliar, the perk is a drink that can be purchased just as any other Perk-A-Cola is which gives players the ability to hold three guns at the same time. Of course being this ability will be a positive to any player, given that they would now have three guns as opposed to two offering a variety of attack at their disposal.

One downside is that the perk is the most expensive available to date, costing 4000 of a player’s hard earned points. Once drank, initially players will not see any effect, but when they go to buy another gun, they will be able to hold it in a third slot, despite a prompt suggesting it will replace the gun they already possess.

To mark this update, Treyarch has released the Kino der Toten music video that features the four soldiers in action, giving the living dead a reminder of what it’s like to stay dead. You can view the video for yourself below. As far as we know the Mule Kick update is only available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 with no word on an update for the PC as of yet.

The official Call of Duty website has confirmed that the Rezurrection zombie map pack for Black Ops will hit both PS3 and PC on September 22nd, this date also kicks a double XP weekend which runs across all platform (PS3/PC/Xbox 360/Wii) – no times have been given but we are told that it ends on September 25th.

Just to recap the Rezurrection DLC brings a completely new zombie maps called Moon, not only this but gamers will also battle against the zombies on four maps from World at War, these are Nacht der Untoten, Verrückt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese. As with the Xbox 360 version of this DLC it is free to those of you who bought the Hardened and Prestige editions of Black Ops.

The list of Trophies for this DLC should be similar to the list of Achievements fro Xbox 360 – you can find out all about these in detail here. Also if you don’t like working out the easter eggs for yourself here is a guide which may come in handy.

As you are probably aware this is the last DLC release that Black Ops will ever see, however if you are not a fan of zombies there is no reason to buy it – having bought the 360 version we have to admit that you get a lot of hours of play for your money – the content costs 1200 Microsoft Points (which equates to roughly $15), people will moan about this price, but if you work out the cost when divided by the amount of hours played it is very good value for money.

Roughly an hour ago Treyarch’s Community Manager, Josh Olin, tweeted this message, here you can clearly see that the Rezurrection DLC is now live, that said it may take some time to arrive in your particular region.

If you purchased the Hardened or Prestige Editions you get this content for free, to get the Moon map simple fire up Black Ops on your 360, ensure that you are signed in to the correct profile, go into zombies and then choose either Splitscreen or Xbox Live – here you should see “FREE ZOMBIES LEVEL”, select this and you should be able to download the new map for free. Getting the free Call of Duty: Zombies Soundtrack and the free Moon theme if pretty simple, you can find out how by checking out this link.

It seems as if a small minority of people are experiencing problems when downloading the content, are you? David Osborn reported one problem on Twitter when he received a code 800700e8 error when attempting to download the DLC, however after waiting a short while and trying again it downloaded fine. Another Twitter user called trdub53 also reported this issue, but it also fixed itself.

As you can see you may have to be a little patient as some problems are affecting people, however it seems to us these errors are related to the huge demand which all Black Ops DLC and won’t be long term. Treyarch recently revealed the DLC’s official list of achievements and as you would expect there seems to be plenty of hints toward the easter eggs which will be hidden within the Moon map, below we have added the full list of achievements along with how many gamerscore points you earn for completing them. Also as usual there is a small description of what you must do to earn each achievement.

Cryogenic Slumber Party (75G) – In Moon, complete Richtofen’s grand scheme.

One Small Hack for Man (5G) – In Moon, hack something.

One Giant Leap (5G) – In Moon, become trapped in the Receiving Area and free yourself through resurrection in co-op.

Perks in Spaaaaace (30G) – In Moon, purchase every Perk in one game.

Fully Armed and Operational (25G) – In Moon, acquire 3 Pack-A-Punched weapons at the same time.

Ground Control (10G) – In Moon, prevent each excavator from breaching the base in one game.

Some of the achievements are pretty much self-explanatory such as “Perks in Spaaaaace” and “Fully Armed and Operational”, however we are mostly intrigued by the fact that you will have to complete Richtofen’s grand scheme to earn 75G, which is obviously the map’s big achievement – but what will this consist of? Well Doctor Edward Richtofen has played a part in all off the zombies maps so we are expecting something pretty epic, especially as this is said to be the final chapter. We would love to hear your ideas as your guess is as good as ours.

Other clues we get from the achievements include the fact that there will be hackable elements on the map, a Receiving Area which you can become trapped in and excavators which will be able to breach the base. You can check out the official Call of Duty website for more details.

As you would expect Treyarch has surrounded this map and its easter eggs with lots of mystery, we can’t wait to uncover the many secrets which will be uncovered – can you?

We thought that you would appreciate us pulling together some screenshots and concept art which we have spotted to build a better picture as to what this new map will bring, let’s start with some screenshots which we spotted over Gaming Everyone.com. You can see all eight screenshots here (some of which show the other zombie maps which this DLC brings), below you can see one of the first-ever screenshots of the Moon map.

So far we have been promised two wonder weapons, these are the Wave Gun and the Quantum Entanglement Device (QED). There is still a lot of mystery surrounding both weapons as we have not seen them in action, however below we have concept art which gives us a quick glimpse of what to expect. The Wave Gun is said to cook zombies from the inside out and the QED is said to either curse or bless the player, this really doesn’t explain a lot – but we are very intrigued.

Treyarch has also told us that the Moon zombie map will bring a new type of equipment and a new Perk-a-Cola, sadly no further information on this has been revealed, therefore we will have to keep you posted on these particular details as we hear more. Previously we have seen more when Treyarch release trailers prior to the DLC’s release, with Rezurrection set to arrive on August 23 (Xbox 360) we expect to see a trailer released within the next week, we think that this will perhaps give us a quick glimpse at the new perk and equipment along with the wonder weapons which we spoke about earlier.

Before we get started let us briefly recap what we found out less than a day ago. The Rezurrection map pack will consists of 5 zombies maps, four of which are remastered versions of the World at War maps Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese. Whilst one will be a completely new map called Moon, which is pretty self-explanatory. You can find out more about the Rezurrection DLC here.

OK, let’s get back to the matter in hand. According to OneOfSword’s writer he spoke to Treyarch’s creative lead for Zombies, Jimmy Zelinski, via email. It is clear that Jimmy was keeping his cards close to his chest, but if you look deeply into some of his answers he may have let a few things slip, that said his answers are very cryptic and we don’t know if we are reading into things too much.

Let’s start with the DLC’s name, Rezurrection, when asked whether the misspelling of the word resurrection was a typo he answered “You never know where hints and Easter eggs may appear in Zombies. What looks like a typo may be a typo…but it might also be the hidden truth behind everything”, We don’t know what you make of this answer, but it almost hints towards things being wrapped up in the Rezurrection DLC, what do you think? Could this be the last ever zombies map? That said when asked whether the Moon level would be the last chapter in the zombies storyline no answer was given.

When asked about the Quantum Entanglement Device, Jimmy was vague he said the “possibilities are limitless” and added “just throw it out there, and see what it will do FOR YOU”. We have heard that it will either curse of bless the player, therefore we are extremely excited to see what it brings to the table.

We wonder whether gravity will play its part on the Moon map, let’s face it you would have thought that combat on the moon would involve some floating around and it looks like Jimmy may have hinted at this inadvertently. He was asked “Are there other new weapons this time around? Any new gameplay mechanics?” to this he replied “This game mode is all about discovery. Whether our characters discover new weapons in the various places they visit is dependent on where they go. Same can be said for gameplay mechanics — the location dictates how you play. Ever been to the moon?”. Could this be a hint toward a map which boasts features which can only be access at a certain time. On Call of the Dead the Pack-a-Punch Machine was only available when the lighthouse shone on certain rocks – perhaps the moon map will use gravity to mix things up and become dynamic – we sure hope so!

Finally we must include this snippet from what Jimmy had to say about the map “of course there will be clues to the past and other story elements, but don’t be surprised to discover a few hints as to what may be coming in the future” – now as you can see this really got us thinking, obviously the map’s easter eggs will probably tell a story as we have seen in other maps, but what could be coming in the future? Could this mean that more zombies are coming in Treyarch’s next CoD game?

This all-Zombies content pack hurls players into orbit with “Moon,” the climax to the Zombies saga, as well as the most challenging and thrilling adventure yet. The undead shift in and out of sight, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Undead astronauts easily shamble toward their next meal, unaffected by the base’s fluctuating gravity.

Arm yourself with a space-age arsenal of epic proportions, including the Wave Gun, capable of cooking zombies from the inside out, as well as the Quantum Entanglement Device, which taps into the theories of quantum mechanics to bless (or curse!) your battle against the undead. Along with new equipment and an all-new Perk for thrice the zombie-slaying fun, you’ll have the tools you need to turn back the undead tide once and for all.

As you can see gravity will not affect undead astronauts, a new perk will be available and you will be able to use the Wave Gun, Treyarch has never divulged so many zombie map details prior to its release, therefore we can’t help but think they are hiding something. Also it clearly states that Moon is the climax to the zombies saga, for Black Ops? Or forever? That’s what we want to know.

Recently this happened to someone who is regarded as one of the most highly rated zombies players out there, he goes by the name of TheRelaxingEnd and he frequently shares videos on his YouTube account, it is well-worth subscribing to his channel via this link, at the end of this post we have embedded one of his most recent videos which is titled “Shangri-La – Round 60 – High Round Strategy – RelaxingEnd & ChristianR87 – Black Ops Zombies”.

In the video we are told about TheRelaxingEnd’s strategy which he used with another gamer called ChristianR87, here both players are doing very well and The RelaxingEnd tends to gather up the zombies by running around near to where the MPL is whilst the other player attracts more zombies to the herd, once a big enough group gathers you simply shoot your Pack-a-Punched 31-79 JGb215 gun aka “The Fractalizer” to shrink the zombies and then he simply finished them off with the Ray Gun. The embedded video clearly shows that the strategy works pretty well, however just as the round 67 world record was in sight the world record attempt disconnected with an error which read “Lost connection to host”, we are assured that this was caused by TheRelaxingEnd’s ISP and nothing to do with Xbox Live.

To give you can idea of the effort players players went to we are told that they played for between 12 and 15 hours and early in the video you can see that they racked up well over 13,000 kills. We are not sure whether TheRelaxingEnd we will reattempt to break the world record, however it does seem as if he has lost all faith in his internet provider.

Previously we have seen TheRelaxingEnd and ChristianR87 do extremely well on other zombies maps such as Ascension, Shi No Numa, Der Riese and Call of the Dead and times they held world records on these maps, as you can see they like doing well on zombies, therefore we wouldn’t be too surprised if they reattempt to break the Shangri La world record in the future.

Like other zombie maps you have to find certain items on Shangri-La to turn the music on, on this map there are three small meteors which you need to locate, when you find the meteors press ‘X’ (Xbox 360) and then move on to the next, the video embedded at the end of this post shows you exactly where these meteors can be found.

The first meteor is located where you first spawn on Shangri-La in one of the corners (behind Quick Revive and to the left of the window there is a pile of rubble, if you look carefully you will see the meteor, the second meteor can be found by the rope bridge (near Juggernog/Speed Cola), just before you walk on the bridge you will see the meteor. The final meteor is in the mine, go past the AK74U and through the unlocked door in the corner of the room where the Stamin-Up is located you will see the meteor. As you can probably appreciate it is easier to watch the video than it is to describe in words where the meteors are, so we strongly recommend that you watch the video which you have embedded below. When the easter egg is complete you will hear Pareidolia by Elena Siegman, the track lasts just over 6 minutes.

Earlier we reported that Treyarch may be releasing more DLC called Retaliation for Black Ops before Modern Warfare 3 arrives, rumors suggest that the map pack’s zombie map will be set in an Area 51 military base, we hope that the developers add some easter eggs to these maps as the last couple of days it has been great unraveling Shangri-La’s secrets.

We are not sure how reputable GigaBuster’s information is, however if we were to believe everything they say the Retaliation map pack will arrive in September and consists of four new multiplayer maps and one more zombie map. We are told that Cargo will be set in an frozen shipping center in Greenland, Harbor is set in an abandoned shipyard in America, Mansion is set in Castro’s secret compound in Cuba and Metro is set in an urban city in Vietnam.

As for the zombie map this is said to be called Quarantine and will be set in an Area 51 military base, this could mean that aliens will make an appearance, however details are very scarce at the moment therefore we will have to keep you posted as we hear more.

GigaBuster’s article is said to be based on information leaked on a website which Activision keeps taking down silently, to us this sounds very doubtful, therefore we are treating this news as a rumor for now, if the Retaliation map pack does arrive in September it will undoubtedly be game’s last DLC release as Modern Warfare 3 will arrive in early November.

If and when the Retaliation DLC arrives it will cost 1200 Microsoft Points when it hits Xbox Live for a period of exclusivity, the map pack will bring Black Ops to 30 multiplayer maps (if you have purchased the other map packs) and a total of 7 zombies maps, people who bought the Hardened or Prestige editions of Black Ops will have a whopping 11 zombie maps to choose from.

Hopefully we will hear more on this rumor soon, for now let us know whether you believe it in the comments section below, we are not 100% convinced its true.

Like all of the zombie maps getting power on is one of your primary tasks, in Shangri-La it is a little different as you have to pull two levers to release the water, this results in the water turbines rotating, which then gives Shangri-La power. You can see a video showing the path to the power here (we have embedded this video at the end of this post), you walk past the Quick Revive, carefully through the spikes, do a quick right and then a left and you should soon enter a mine, follow the main path of the mine and you should soon see the AK74U on the wall, pass this and take a right (following the arrow), you must then go up the small set of steps in front of you, head right and walk past the Spikemores and you will see two levers, pull both of these to get the power on.

You may have noticed in the previous paragraph we mentioned Spikemores, these are a new weapon to zombies and as the name suggests they are quite similar to claymores. To us it looks like Spikemores may be more affective than Claymores and they certainly appear to cover more area. This video reveals where the Spikemores can be found (near the power switches) and shows the weapon in action. Note: Spikemores cost 1000 points and you get 2 per round.

The PHD Flopper is handy when you want to clear a crowded area quickly (as long as there is a slope), also the Bowie Knife is a great melee weapon which will help you get as many points per kill as possible, you can find both of these items easily by watching this video, they are quite near to the power levers and as you would expect the PHD Flopper costs 2000 points and the Bowie Knife costs 3000 points.

Finally if you want to reach the high rounds in Shangri-La you are going to have to go on the mystery box and if you are lucky you will get the Shrink Ray, we spoke about this weapon previously and we were right in thinking that it turns zombies into babies, you can see the Shrink Ray in action here.
