Messenger and own an iPad, a new Yahoo! Messenger app is available for free at the App Store which has been optimized to suit Apple’s iPad and iPad 2.

You can find out fully detailed information regarding this map via iTunes, the app is 21MB in size so shouldn’t take too long to install, however you must be running iOS 4.0 or later.

According to the app’s official description when you compare this app version (2.1) to previous releases you will notice an iPad-optimized layout, improved spam management and lots of bug fixes, one of which caused unexpected sign-out issues. If you run Yahoo! Messenger 2.1 on your iPad 2 you will be able to make voice and video calls to compliant devices.

Other functionality is the same as before, you will still be able to easily share photos and videos, send free SMS messages and make low-cost international calls. If you have never used any versions of the app before you will be glad to hear that Yahoo! Messenger runs in the background and you receive notifications when an instant message arrives.

Messenger app has recently been updated so users can now make video calls. Yahoo! Messenger 2.0 is available for owners of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

The updated application lets you bring all your friends into one place by letting you add you’re Windows Live Messenger contacts to your friends list. Voice calls are now free to your Yahoo! Messenger contacts, and you can also make low cost landline calls to your other contacts.

Yahoo! Messenger now supports Multitasking so you can use other applications while it runs in the background. Connection can be made via mobile app to PC, or mobile to mobile. You are notified for every message even if the application is not open.

SMS messages can be sent free of charge via the application, and video calling via an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 is recommended using Wi-Fi.

Yahoo! Messenger 2.0 is available free of charge on the App Store. iOS 3.0 or later required.
