In case you guys were wondering if it was a typing error, we can gladly confirm that it isn’t, as rumours have been surfacing that some Xbox Live account users out there, have been receiving 500 free MS points on their accounts.

There seems to be a state of confusion going on as there hasn’t been an official word on this issue and the reasons for it.

Apparently, gamers who had pre-ordered a copy of Grand theft Auto IV, also received a special offer, granting the customers 500 free MS points, turns out though that this offer had an expiry date and customers were no longer able to redeem their points, this could be a way of a refund from Microsoft who those who had felt disappointed.

Even more bizarre, some gamers are even complaining of points being deducted from their accounts for no apparent reason, so something obviously needs to be sorted out, expect an official announcement from Microsoft soon.

Your game on Xbox Live
Can you imagine having a game you designed on Microsoft’s Xbox Live and even better than that being able to charge people for it as well.

Chris Satchell, Microsoft’s chief technology officer has revealed new plans for gamers being able to create games with the XNA initiative.

The project has now been given the name “Xbox LIVE Community Games” and will let Xbox 360 gamers create games via XNA, these developers will benefit by being able to charge for the games and consumers benefit with more games choice.

This will create a much better games community on Xbox Live, What’s your view?

The game developers will be able to choose from three price plans for the sale of their games, these will be 800 Microsoft Points ($10.00), 400 ($5.00) or 200 ($2.50). The game creators will get to keep up to 70 percent of the revenue from their games.

The cheaper 200 MS point games will have a size limit of 50MB but the 800 and 400-point games will have a size limit of 150MB.

The games in Xbox LIVE Community Games will have demos and trailers.

Tales of Vesperia demo released for Xbox 360

July 21, 2008 by Daniel

Tales of Vesperia demo
The Tales RPG franchise celebrates its tenth anniversary with the release of Tales of Vesperia™, exclusively on Xbox 360®. Tales of Vesperia brings the popular real-time RPG fighting system and a brand new cast of characters into a world struggling with an ancient technology, the blastia, and the empire that controls the blastia.

The game follows the adventures of Yuri, a former Imperial Knight and the colorful members he meets along the way. Yuri travels with Repede, his loyal canine friend; Estelle, a sheltered noble looking to explore the world and find her path; Karol, a young member of the Hunting Blades Guild; and Rita, an outspoken mage researcher.

The beginning of the demo takes place shortly after Yuri and his companions have met up with Rita. After hitting a snag with the empire’s soldiers, they must detour through the forest battling ferocious inhabitants and a huge monster that has been attacking the neighboring villages.

Strategically string together sword combos and use your artes (magic) and items to their fullest potential to make it through the forest alive. Using your over limit allows you to string together even more attacks, and tailoring the battle strategies of your companions can give you that extra edge in battle.

In Tales of Vesperia, the artistic style is so detailed and animated, it truly blurs the line between animation and gaming. Try the demo available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace now.

July track releases for Rock Band on Xbox 360

June 30, 2008 by Peter Chubb

Yes it is that time again, a list of all the latest track releases for Rock Band on the Xbox 360. The July schedule for individual song tracks and song packs from Harmonix and MTV Games have now been announced, but are they any good. The songs are available by using your Microsoft points, 80 per track however; if you were to purchase an entire pack of songs, then this will be offered at a discount rate.

Some of these July track listings are from the original artist, but some are cover songs, you will always know if it is a cover before downloading as they will have an asterisk next to them. As we mentioned above, each track list will cost 80 MS points, but “Promised Land” is available for free. There is also the three-song Crüefest pack; this will cost you 240 MS Points.

Some of the songs available for your Rock Band Xbox 360 game are, “Down at the Whisky” by Mötley Crüe, “Time is Running Out” by Papa Roach, “Who’s Going Home with You Tonight” by Trapt, as well as “Promised Land” by Vesuvius, from the movie The Rocker (this track is free)

It seems that these are not the greatest tracks in the world to jam too, but they are just a few more to add to your ever growing Rock Band Track list. All tracks can be integrated into set lists in all of the game modes, from Band World Tour, Solo Tour or even Head-to-Head online or locally, hell you can even use them on the Quick play mode. So head over to Xbox Live and get these new track releases.

The Xbox 360 does online gaming best and when they say an “All-Nighter” event is coming up, you know it’s going to be good. The game is Grand Theft Auto IV and they have planned an all-nighter on Xbox Live for May 24. Make sure you clear that date and mark it down to get online and play GTA 4. The aim is to play from dusk on May 24 until dawn of May 25.

They are not really giving away any prizes, if you send in a photo of your get together or loner if playing alone, and then you may get featured on Xbox.com. They just want to get everyone who has Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox Live for one day and night, if that does happen, do you think the servers will take it?

Below is the Official announcement from Microsoft’s Xbox 360:
Liberty City never sleeps and neither should you, during the Xbox All-Nighter featuring Grand Theft Auto IV™ from dusk on May 24 until dawn of May 25. We’ll be running rampant through the streets in campaign, free-roaming multiplayer, and one of the several multiplayer game types. Jump in to Xbox LIVE® for a night of carjacking, pistol whipping, and turf wars.

We’re dying to hear about your Grand Theft Auto IV All-Nighter. Tell us all about the action with a short recap, maybe even send us a mug shot. Send us your recap and/or pictures with the subject “GTA IV All-Nighter” and we might feature yours on Xbox.com!

Xbox 360 HD DVD player update
We all know that HD DVD has died and gone to heaven but Microsoft are not letting that stop them, because they are still showing the current Xbox 360 HD DVD player owners amazing love with the release of today’s auto update.

You can connect to your Xbox Live with a HD DVD player firmly integrated into your 360, once you are there you will be asked to download a new update, this new update will apparently help with the compatibility issues with some titles and will add additional support for network features.

Oh we must tell you that this update will not bring back to life Toshiba’s commitment to HD DVD but it should make your HD movie viewing a little better.

Oh Microsoft you do try!

Hotels offer Guitar Hero, Wii Sports and Xbox Live to guests

There are a number of hotels out there that hire basic game consoles and games but now top hotels are hoping to have a partnership with Microsoft and Nintendo so that they can bring Guitar Hero, Wii Sports and even Xbox Live to guests.

A Hotel in Seattle called the Monaco host Guitar Hero nights at the bar now that is what we want when we stay in hotels, entertainment. Also the Hotel Sax, is working with Microsoft to create a special Xbox Live network so that guests can play games with other guests in the hotel.

What do you think of this idea?
