As our readers may know, we have had a lot of feedback in the last week or so referring to the Wow 4.0.1 patch and the problems that it has caused them. And although the Headless Horseman (a random boss you can compete once a day for random goodies and ilevel 200 epics), is a fairly simple fight, he seems harder than ever with his new ability — he crashes your World of Warcraft game.

This is a nuisance. Especially as it happens when you move your mouse over the pumpkin to summon this boss in the Scarlet Monastery. It’s even more of a nuisance because it is usually the tank that summons him, therefore leaving 4 of you (3 dps and a healer) to deal with the boss until the tank returns.

All that aside, I’m sure that Blizzard will fix this soon along with the rest of the bugs that plague the 4.0.1 patch. But for those of you new to the Hallow’s End holiday, and want to complete that illusive “What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” meta-achievement that still includes the promise of a 310% flying mount, then check out this guide provided by Wowhead.

The Cataclysm cinematic features some first-time high-definition landscapes such as Darkshore, Stormwind, Thousand Needles and The Barrens, that get torn apart by the aspect of death, formally known as the aspect of the earth. It’s safe to say that the latter title still stands somewhat.

When Blizzard released the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic, there were probably a lot of people that thought it could never be beaten. But this definitely belongs up there as one of Blizzard’s best cinematics to date. Ok, i’ll stop talking about it now. You can check out the cinematic below.

So much has been happening in Azeroth these past 48-hours. The highly anticipated 4.0.1 patch dropped, but with it has come a flurry of problems, issues and bugs that we detailed in an article yesterday.

There have been many of you who couldn’t log in and have been told to ‘check your addons’ by GM’s or general people trying to help. I’ll just mention here that there has been changes to the way video settings work, so try and reset all these to the lowest possible to see if that works for you. This is just a suggestion and not an actual fix, but if it works for you, pass on the information.

If you were one of the lucky ones who managed to get in game during the 4.0.1 rush, I’m pleased for you. But you may have noticed that you had an extreme buff or nerf to your class. These changes have been noted and modified to bring rebalancing of the classes back in order.

In a forum post from Ghostcrawler, he mentions a select few changes but also states that “we don’t have any other changes to announce at this time. I am reluctant to mention additional classes or specs that we are looking at currently for fear of instilling excitement or panic.”

We made many changes yesterday. A lot of these were bug fixes, and many bug fixes will affect damage one way or the other. So just because you don’t see a specific change referenced below, doesn’t mean it didn’t change.

With that said, here are the specific changes we made in reference to my previous post:

1) We buffed the base points and coefficients of many warrior dps abilities. We didn’t do as much to tanking abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Ret abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Feral cat abilities.

2) We lowered the base points and coefficients of many mage abilities, but lowered Fire more than the other two.

3) We nerfed Shadow Word: Death, but it is possible we didn’t nerf it enough. It should not be Shadow’s biggest spell.

4) We returned Searing Pain’s damage to its 3.3.5 levels.

5) We increased the benefit of resilience by 50% for players level 80 and below. The tooltips will probably not reflect this change

Along with the already known bugs, new ones have been found. These range from the Druid spell Insect Swarm (Balance) not being available even when your spell book tells you to visit a trainer to learn it, only to find out that the trainer says you already learnt the spell.

There has also been some confusion with the Master Riding skill, missing enhancements, authenticator issues, renamed Warlock pets, and probably a WoW players biggest nightmare — missing characters. The entire list can be found by visiting the source page below.

You’ll be pleased to know that Blizzard has already given gamers an ETA for when the servers will go offiline. It will commence at 12am PT today, and the downtime will last for 12 hours until 12pm PT, unfortunately.

However, the rewards you’ll get when everything is back to normal are far greater. As Joystiq reports, the update will add significant changes to the class and glyph system, as well as tons of guild tweaks and a new item reforging system should keep WoW gamers busy for some time as well.

The update may become available sooner or later than 12PM PT, these things can never be guessed. The good news however, is that you can check the exact moment when the download is up, by following his handy update page from Twitter. You’ll be able to keep a tab on all the latest WoW updates, so you’ll be able to download it before everyone else.
